Darling LilyCrinum flaccidum Scientific name: Crinum flaccidum Other common names: Paroo Lily, Macquarie Lily or Murray Lily
The bulb of the Darling Lily is very large. These lilies grow along the banks of rivers and streams in the drier western plains areas of the Murray-Darling Basin. It can grow to about a metre high and half a metre wide with strap-like leaves and clusters of white to cream flowers. The flowers appear in late summer to autumn and have a strong scent. They may last several weeks or months, then the flowers die back and the plant is not much more than a huge white bulb deep underground. |
